Blessings pour on Caraga Regional Science High School as stakeholders in the community such as the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) and the Local Government Unit (LGU) intensify their support to the school’s ICT Integration Program. GPTA President Atty. Marietta E. Eviota and City Mayor Alfonso S. Casurra expressed their pride during the General PTA Assembly on December 1, 2007, as the school has been conferred the Intel® Teach Merit Award for SY 2006-2007. The school was recognized for its commendable planning and management efforts which, coupled with the Master Trainers’ admirable commitment, led to the successful first year of implementation of the Intel® Teach Program. The award was given during the 2nd National Intel® Teach Conference held last November 25-27, 2007 at Crown Regency Suites in Mactan, Cebu.

Having realized the impact of the PTA’s and LGU’s involvement as learning partners, Atty. Eviota and Mayor Casurra vowed to deepen their assistance to the school’s ICT integration endeavors, particularly by helping sustain the technology facilities which have been enjoyed not only by the school but also by the community. Just recently, Mayor Casurra provided the school with funds for the operation and maintenance of the school’s technology facilities. Furthermore, he said that he would assist the school in seeking more sponsors and donors as he now included in the City’s agenda, the ICT Integration Program of the school. On the other hand, the PTA provided for the salary of the newly hired additional utility worker so that the school’s computer technician, whom they likewise sponsor, can now focus on ensuring reliable Internet connection and effective computers for the students.

The above-mentioned stakeholders have been consistent in extending their support to the school particularly on the school’s physical maintenance. They have also been providing assistance to teachers and students when attending national level contests, seminars, and workshops. The Intel® Teach Merit Award which the school received, intensified the commitment of the school and other stakeholders to continue the implementation of the Program. Mayor Casurra also remarked that this should not be overlooked since not all schools are recipients of the Program.

Equally inspired are the teachers who are enthusiastic in implementing their technology-enhanced Unit Plans in class. This positive response motivated Principal Matilde J. Manliguis to be more proactive thus, including in her plan the extension of service to the neighboring schools and division through the continuous sharing of the ICT resources of the school and the expertise of the Master Trainers, ICT trained teachers, and students to strengthen the Communities of Learning which Intel® Teach has envisioned to achieve.
