Intel® Teach Philippines Sends 2 Senior Trainers to the 4th Intel® Teach Asia Senior Trainers' Conference

In its goal to continuously enhance the capability of Intel® Teach Trainers in the Philippines, Intel® Technology Philippines, Inc. (ITPI) sent two of its Senior Trainers (ST) to the 4th Asia Senior Trainers’ Conference in Bangalore, India on May 26 to 29, 2008.

The conference covered three tracks as follows:


Track 1 – Intel® Teach Essentials Online for countries planning to pilot the online course




Track 2 – Intel® Teach Getting Started Leadership Forum and Enhancement Workshop; and




Track 3 – Intel® Teach Essentials Online for countries who already piloted the online course.

The Conference was organized by Intel® Education Asia to provide Senior Trainers of Intel® Teach participating countries in Asia, a venue to enhance their skills, received updates about the program and share experiences in implementing the Intel® Teach in their respective countries.

Ms. Amelia T. Buan of the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), together with Intel® Technology Philippines Education Manager, Ms. Cecilia Ubarra, participated in the first track. MSU-IIT will pilot the Intel® Teach Essentials Online to its pre-service students of its College of Education. It also planned to invite a group of its Getting Started Course trainees from the Region who have shown potential to move to the next level of technology integration training, to participate in the Pilot Intel® Teach Essentials Online Course. The workshop introduced the online environment of the Essentials Course and simulated online sessions such that Senior Trainers will experience how it is to participate in the Essentials Online Course. As Senior Trainers collaborated online and completed the activities online, they got acquainted with the schedule, features, and learned how to facilitate the Essentials Online Course.

Ms. Monalisa T. Sasing of the University of the Philippines National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development (UP NISMED), participated in the second track on Getting Started (GS) Leadership Forum and Enhancement Workshop. The first part of this track focused on preparing Senior Trainers to design workshops for school heads that will help them understand effective technology use that will enhance teacher productivity and to imbibe in them the need to do technology planning to support their teachers using technology to support teaching. The second part of the track introduced Senior Trainers to new strategies that will help enhance facilitation and deepen understanding of Getting Started Course contents related to 21st century skills, student centered learning, facilitation skills, higher order thinking, and in developing action plans. The workshop also provided an opportunity for participating countries to share best known methods in delivering the GS Course
