Teach Essentials Online Demo at the Third National ICTs in Basic Education Congress
posted about 1 year ago

Intel Teach Master Trainers and practitioners gathered on September 11, 2008 for a Teach Essentials Online Demo, which was presented at the Third National ICTs in Basic Education Congress at the Waterfront Hotel, Lahug, Cebu City.

Amelia T. Buan, an Intel Teach Senior Trainer and professor at MSU-Iligan Institute of Technology, was the presenter for this session. In this session, the key features of Intel Teach Essential Online Course were demonstrated in terms of its content and strategies employed in the delivery of the course.

The goal of the Intel Teach Essential Course is to help teachers discover how to use computer technology to captivate, motivate, and ultimately, move students toward 21st century learning.

The course addresses an Essential Question: “How can technology be used most effectively to support and assess student learning?” Teachers work as curriculum designers and explore this question in eight modules and create a technology infused, student centered, and standard based unit.

Through a hybrid face to face and online training model, teachers participate in 60 hours of professional development infused with research-based approaches to integrate technology into the classroom. Teachers explore the current web-based collaborative technologies and other software applications before selecting the most appropriate tools to support student learning in their unit design. The resulting unit includes a sample student project, student self-direction tools and multiple type of assessment that are embedded throughout the unit.

Teach Essentials Online Course has yet to be implemented in the country.
