Intel Technology Philippines Incorporated (ITPI), in partnership with the Foundation for Information Technology Education and Development (FIT-ED) and University of the Philippines National Institute for Science and Mathematics Education Development (UP NISMED), organized the 2009 National Intel Teach Pre-service Conference held on February 8 to 11, 2009 at the Bohol Plaza Resort in Panglao Island, Bohol, Philippines. A total of 90 individuals, including deans and faculty members from 31 selected partner TEIs, guest speakers and organizers, attended the event.
With the theme “Are we preparing tomorrow’s teachers to teach with technology? – The capacity building challenge”, the conference aimed to attain the following goals and objectives:
- Disseminate effective practices by institutions and faculty in utilizing the Intel Teach course portfolio to enhance curricula and programs.
- Provide partner Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) a venue to assess existing programs and draw up plans for enhancing own capacities relative to ICTs in teacher preparation programs.
- Update partner TEIs on current ICT tools and resources.
