Intel Teach Awards for 21st Century Educators 2007

As the culminating activity of the 2nd National Intel Teach Conference, this year’s Intel Teach Awards for 21st Century Educators was held last November 27, 2007 in Mactan, Cebu, to recognize the efforts of members of the Community of Learning (CoL) who contributed to the meaningful use of technology in the teaching-learning process. More than 150 participants and guests gathered at the Convention Hall of the Crown Regency Suites to celebrate with the winners of the Intel Teach School Awards and the Intel Teach Master Trainer Award.

The winning schools for the Intel Teach School Awards were chosen based on the results of the year-end unit performance assessment, taking into consideration the overall organization of program activities during the school year, and participation in SY 2006-2007 Planning and Management and Pedagogical Support activities. Meanwhile, the Intel Teach Master Trainer Awards were given to teachers who excelled in unit plan development and implementation.

1.The Intel Teach Champion Award was given to Samar National School for outstanding planning and management efforts during the school’s 1st year of implementation. They received a multimedia showcase, which included an Epson printer and LCD projector, Logitech webcam and Genius microphone.

2.Three schools were awarded with the Intel Teach Merit Award: Caraga Regional Science High School, Alaminos National High School, and Maria Cristina National High School, for commendable planning and management efforts during the school’s 1st year of implementation. Each school was given an Epson LCD projector.

3. Out of six nominees, two winners were selected as recipients of the Technology-Enhanced Instructional Award:
Ms. Cecile Pagar of Bayugan National Comprehensive High School for developing and implementing a technology-enhanced unit plan that exemplifies student collaboration, authentic learning, and ingenious sharing of learnings, and Ms. Sheilah Ramoran of Alaminos National High School for developing and implementing a unit plan that serves as a convincing example of how technology used to support classroom learning can likewise impact students’ understanding of issues affecting their communities, driving them to advocate for appropriate action. Both of them received a Canon digital camera and compact photo printer.

The event was hosted by Ms. Victoria Tinio, Executive Director of FIT-ED and the prizes for the winning schools and individuals were awarded by Ms. Arlita Narag, Corporate Affairs Manager of Intel Technology Philippines, Inc.
