FIT-ED

The Foundation for Information Technology Education and Development, Inc. (FIT-ED) was established to increase awareness in the Philippines of information technology as a tool for development and to contribute to the effort to enable Philippine society for the Information Age.

Pilipinas SchoolNet (PSN) is the flagship ICT in Education program of FIT-ED. The vision of PSN is to become a sustainable network of schools in the Philippines that uses a broad range of information and communication technologies as effective tools for teaching and learning.
PSN was launched in 2001 with the Coca-Cola Ed.venture Project that piloted the use of Internet- and Web-based resources in support of the goals of the Basic Education Curriculum in 15 schools in Metro Manila and the Visayas. PSN has since reached over 100 schools and over 1,000 teachers and education administrators through various professional development, content development, research, networking, and policy advocacy activities, including the Coca-Cola Ed.venture Extension Project, the e-Curricula for High Schools Project (funded by the Coca-Cola Company and Mirant Philippines Foundation), the EU-ASIA Learning Bridges Project (funded by the European Commission), the World Links Philippines Project (through the World Bank-managed Japan Social Development Fund), the bi-annual National ICTs in Basic Education Congress, and the National Strategic Planning for ICTs in Basic Education Initiative.

In 2005, FIT-ED became the implementing agency for the Intel® Teach In-Service Program in the Philippines and is responsible for developing the strategies for effective and sustainable implementation of the Program in the country and for the overall management of Program activities. FIT-ED also designs and delivers professional development activities and provides planning and management support to all education policymakers and administrators covered by the 2005-2006 Program.
