Pre-service Program

The Intel® Teach Pre-Service Program in the Philippines, which was implemented in 2002, is a joint undertaking of Intel Technology Philippines, Inc. and the National Institute of Science and Mathematics Education of the University of the Philippines. The objectives of the Intel® Teach Pre-service Program in the Philippines are as follows:

* to develop a pool of future teachers who will play lead roles in using and integrating information and communications technology into school curricula to improve student learning

* to develop competencies among College of Education faculty in preparing future teachers to use and integrate information and communication technology in school curricula

* to upgrade and strengthen the educational technology and related methods courses of key teacher education institutions in the country by providing them with high-quality training, curriculum, and resources

Since May 2002, a total of 277 teacher educators and 15,925 student teachers from 56 universities have been trained on the Intel® Teach Pre-Service Curriculum. By the end of 2006, the Program targets to enlist 50 additional TEIs.
