Pre-service Program

The Intel® Teach Pre-Service Program in the Philippines, which was implemented in 2002, is a joint undertaking of Intel Technology Philippines, Inc. and the National Institute of Science and Mathematics Education of the University of the Philippines. The objectives of the Intel® Teach Pre-service Program in the Philippines are as follows:

* to develop a pool of future teachers who will play lead roles in using and integrating information and communications technology into school curricula to improve student learning

* to develop competencies among College of Education faculty in preparing future teachers to use and integrate information and communication technology in school curricula

* to upgrade and strengthen the educational technology and related methods courses of key teacher education institutions in the country by providing them with high-quality training, curriculum, and resources

Since May 2002, a total of 277 teacher educators and 15,925 student teachers from 56 universities have been trained on the Intel® Teach Pre-Service Curriculum. By the end of 2006, the Program targets to enlist 50 additional TEIs. The following universities are currently implementing the Program or have participated in the faculty training or pilot implementation: Saint Louis University, Benguet State University, University of Baguio, Mariano Marcos State University, Pangasinan State University, Saint Mary’s University, University of St. Louis, Cagayan State University, St. Paul University Philippines, Isabela State University, University of La Salette, Wesleyan University Philippines, Angeles University Foundation, Holy Angel University, University of the Assumption Pampanga, Central Luzon State University, Cavite State University, University of Batangas, University of Perpetual Help, St. Michaelâs College of Laguna, University of Rizal System, Palawan State University, Philippine Normal University-Manila, New Era University, Ateneo de Naga, Bicol University, Aquinas University-Legaspi, West Visayas State University, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, Western Visayas College of Science and Technology, University of San Agustin, Central Philippine University, University of St. La Salle, St. Anthony’s College, Foundation University, Silliman University, University of San Carlos, University of San Jose-Recoletos, St. Paul University-Dumaguete, Cebu Normal University, Leyte Normal University, University of Eastern Philippines, Samar State University, Western Mindanao State University, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, Universidad de Zamboanga, Xavier University, Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology, Ateneo de Davao University, University of Mindanao, University of the Immaculate Conception, University of Southeastern Philippines, Notre Dame of Marbel University, University of Southern Mindanao, Mindanao State University, and Philippine Normal University-Agusan.
